Apple has released macOS Sequoia, the latest version of its macOS operating system, available as a free update for Mac users. Key Features of macOS Sequoia

    iPhone Mirroring

With iPhone Mirroring, users can access their iPhone directly from their Mac. This expansion of Continuity allows users to interact with their iPhone apps, swipe between Home Screen pages, and respond to notifications without unlocking their iPhone. This seamless integration lets users work across both devices more efficiently, with StandBy support providing glanceable information from iPhone while using it on a Mac.

    Safari Enhancements

Safari, already the world’s fastest browser, now comes with the new Highlights feature, which uses machine learning to surface relevant information like directions, summaries, or links related to what users are viewing. A redesigned Reader mode simplifies article reading with summaries and table of contents, while the new Viewer feature brings videos to the forefront. Distraction Control helps users hide disruptive elements on web pages.

    Window Tiling for Better Organization

Window management gets easier with new tiling options. Users can drag windows to the screen’s edge, and macOS Sequoia will automatically suggest a tiled layout. This feature allows for side-by-side apps or windows positioned in corners for better multitasking. Keyboard and menu shortcuts speed up the tiling process.

    New Passwords App

The new Passwords app consolidates all user credentials—passwords, passkeys, and Wi-Fi details—into one secure location. With end-to-end encryption, it syncs seamlessly across Apple devices and even Windows via iCloud. This offers a secure, centralized way to manage credentials.

    Video Conferencing Updates

Mac users can now enhance their video calls with custom backgrounds in FaceTime and other apps like Webex. Whether using built-in backgrounds or uploading their own photos, Apple’s segmentation technology ensures users look their best. Additionally, a new presenter preview feature allows users to see shared content before sharing it during calls on apps like FaceTime or Zoom.

    Apple Intelligence Coming Soon

Starting next month, Apple Intelligence will be available on Macs with M-series chips. This new AI system leverages Apple silicon to enable natural language processing, content creation, and app automation. Writing Tools will allow users to rewrite, proofread, and summarize text, while Siri will become more flexible, maintaining context across multiple commands and switching seamlessly between text and voice. The system’s advanced capabilities run on-device, with Private Cloud Compute extending privacy protections to cloud-based tasks.

    Additional Features

Messages: Users can schedule messages to send later and use animated text effects to bring messages to life. Any emoji or sticker can now be used for reactions.
Notes: Audio recordings with live transcription make it easy to capture important details, and Apple Intelligence will generate automatic summaries. The new Math Notes feature allows users to instantly solve equations by typing them into Notes.
Maps: Outdoor enthusiasts gain access to topographic maps and thousands of U.S. national park hiking routes, with the ability to create custom hiking or walking routes.

    Availability
macOS Sequoia is available today as a free software update. Apple Intelligence features will start rolling out next month, with more updates coming throughout the year. For more details on the update and full feature availability, visit Apple’s macOS Sequoia page.

Apple continues to push the boundaries of integration, productivity, and privacy with macOS Sequoia, delivering a more connected and intelligent Mac experience.
