eGPU on Intel Macs?

I have the Razer Core X with a 5700XT in it.
It is a major upgrade of my 2017 MBP's intel graphic card, but you do lose a lot of performance over Thunderbolt. It could be just my computer but it's also a little bit finicky. it doesn't always want to work.
